Mike Adams

Mike Adams was surrounded by bluegrass music and profoundly influenced by it during the sixties in Detroit. Mike's father was a great fan of bluegrass, and surrounded his sons with the recordings of Bill Monroe, Jimmy Martin and Hank Williams.

Mike began to teach himself the guitar at fourteen, and developed a love for singing the tight harmonies that haunt the high lonesome sound of bluegrass. With his older brother Gary Adams setting the pace, it wasn't long before the bluegrass community began to take note of Mike as well. When Gary formed his band, The Bluegrass Gentlemen, it wasn't long before he drew in his brother to compliment and round out the bands sound. While with the Bluegrass Gentlemen, Mike played with a variety of musicians, The Virginia Squires, Jim and Jesse, Mac Wiseman and Molly O'Day are just a few, experience which enriched Mike's musical prospective. Additionally, working closely in the studio and on the stage with his brother provided a comfortable partnership that he seeks today with the musicians he works with.

A few years ago, after a nine year hiatus, Mike returned to playing and singing, with Morning Harvest. He later formed the Mike Adams Band. The current line-up of the band provides great depth of experience and talent, and brings the vocal talents of John Coffey and Mike to the stage together again. Mike is a multi-instrumentalist, and is playing bass with the band.

Mike is the owner of Soundridge Recordings where his last CD was recorded. The recording process and all the details that surround production of a musical project have again enriched Mike's experience and ability to bring great music to the stage. A new CD is in the works, be watching for it!
